Partnerships

Scoil Bhríde works with many partners to help our pupils become more active.

Tennis: The children had a taster session of tennis during Active School Week last year. The taster session proved so popular with the children, we decided to make it a regular activity this year. Michael Russell is our tennis coach. He will be coaching each class for six weeks this year.

Irish Dancing: The children in Scoil Bhríde are working hard on their jigs and reels with the help of our Irish Dancing teacher Ms Lucy. Each child will receive six lessons during the year. We hope to have a number of dances perfected for our Céilí Mór which will happen during Seachtain na Gaeilge next year.

Gymnastics: Each pupil in Scoil Bhríde will receive six gymnastics lessons from our gymnastics coaches Michelle and Stephanie this year. A group of our pupils put on a marvelous gymnastics display for our Open Evening guests in October which showcased the many skills they had learned up to that point.

Swimming: Our pupils from 3rd to 5th class have eight swimming lessons each year in the Aura swimming pool in Youghal. These lessons will help them to become capable and confident in the water, and will stand to them throughout their lives.

Scoil Bhríde acknowledges physical activity and sports achievements achieved during and outside of school hours. Take a look at some of the activities our pupils partake in. We have had some great achievements and look forward to many more!

Well done to all the girls from 3rd to 6th class who competed in East Cork Cross Country in September in Fr. O’ Neills Sportsfield, Aghavine, Ballymacoda.

Well done to our Mini Marathon competitors!

This is our entry for the ‘Gala Gifts for Schools’ competition where we are hoping to win a €10,000 prize to put towards the cost of our new running track. Mrs Pender’s 5th class girls had great fun putting this dance together. Best of luck girls! Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

We welcome local sports stars to our school to help motivate our pupils to incorporate physical activity into their lives on a regular basis. This year we had the honour of welcoming Orla Farmer of the Cork Ladies Football team to our school. We also welcomed the Cork Camogie team to Scoil Bhríde this year.
