Extra Curricular Activities within our School
Sports: Athletics, Camogie, Ladies Football, Swimming
Sciath na Scol: Our girls have participated in the Football and Camogie Sciath na Scol Competitions this year. Teachers worked hard and pupils thoroughly enjoyed same but they didn’t bring home any silverware this year! Thanks to all involved and in particular to St. Colman’s Community College for the use of their pitch for training. We are indebted to you!
Cork City Sports will take place on the Friday 11th of June. Those participating have been selected and training is about to begin. We are very grateful to our teachers for providing training and also to the Christian Brothers Secondary School for the use of their facilities- without which training would be very difficult for us
Music: Cor Fheile, Scor na bPaisti, School band, Choirs
Scór na bPáistí: Some of our pupils participated in Scór na bPáistí in solo singing, ballad group, instrumental group, quiz and recitation. All performed really well – the instrumental group, ballad group and recitation reaching the East Cork Final! Well done girls!
Feis Maitiú: The school band were awarded Second Place in Feis Maitiú recently. Comhghairdeas do gach éinne! Congratulations and thanks to all involved!
Environmental: Green Flag Committee, Garden Committee
First Communion will take place on Saturday 8th May in the Church of the Most Holy Rosary at 10.00 a.m. As you are aware it is the tradition that the First Communicants and their parents come back to the school hall for refreshments. Your support for the “Communion Breakfast” by way of sandwiches and or cakes (no chocolate please) would be much appreciated.
Fund raising: This year our pupils raised €1, 593 for Haiti. Thanks to all who contributed.
Extra curricular activities
Violin and Guitar are taught on Thursday and Friday afternoons respectively to pupils from third to sixth class. If you wish your daughter to have either of these lessons please contact the school for details of cost and times.
Piano is taught during the school day. Pupils from first class to sixth leave their class for the duration of the lesson. As places are limited, it is on a first come first served basis. To arrange piano lessons please contact the school and one of the piano teachers will contact you with the relevant cost and information.
Ladies Football / Camogie are both taught during school lunch breaks and after school. It is available to pupils from fourth class to sixth. They are informed of the training times.
Badminton is taught to fifth and sixth class pupils on Monday after school from 3:00 to 3:45. If interested please contact the school.
Ballet lessons take place every Wednesday at 3:00pm. For further details on availability and costs please contact the school for the ballet teacher’s number.
